Primary Functions: Manages and directs the planning, predictive and stores maintenance activities.
Working Relationships:
• This position reports to the Plant Manager. Reporting to the incumbent are the Maintenance Planner and Maintenance Supervisors (4).
• The incumbent works through the Maintenance supervisors to ensure Operations and Maintenance employees adhere to preventative maintenance systems. The incumbent also ensures that Maintenance supervisors support the needs of the production lines and warehouse operations with timely repair of breakdown problems.
• The incumbent also directs the maintenance planning systems through the Maintenance Planner and MRO Store Clerk. This includes updating and administration of preventative repair systems.
• The incumbent directs the activities of Stores to ensure optimum levels of spare parts inventory, balancing anticipated needs with dollar inventory investment.
• The incumbent works with outside contracted services, as needed, to ensure optimum repair, planning, and Stores services. The incumbent also works with representatives from the Battle Creek Corporate and other Plant Maintenance personnel to provide adequate computer services and other means of support.
• The incumbent may substitute as the environmental supervisor running the equalization system. This includes any regulatory inspections, audits, and reports.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
• Plans, directs, and implements the activities of the Maintenance Department through the Maintenance supervisors to ensure maximum efficiency while minimizing equipment downtime. Ensures supervisors are trained and managed to obtain desired results.
• Responsible for operating all Plant Maintenance operations within budgetary limitations. This includes overtime and Client scheduling, long and short term.
• Develops and coordinates electrical and mechanical training programs to improve the efficiency of the subordinate staff.
• Implements, through Maintenance supervisors, the requisitioning and maintaining of a controlled stores inventory, ensuring inventory parts and supplies are on hand to minimize equipment downtime while maintaining economical inventory level.
• Incumbent is responsible for maintaining and updating preventative maintenance program to reduce equipment downtime, prevent equipment damage, and prolong equipment service life.
• Lead and direct continuous technical improvement of the equipment in support of plant business goals with the support of Battle Creek Corporate Engineering. (Proactive Maintenance and total cost of ownership).
• Drives KPIs related to Maintenance.
• Responsible for Equipment Maintenance Plans (EMP)
• Set direction and policy for the entire Plant in regards to maintenance programs. Communicate direction to maintenance team and hold them accountable for adherence to plant direction and policy
• Maintains employee harmony by controlling personnel problems and union grievances at the first stages to keep department operating efficiently and economically.
• Communicates with all levels of management to establish priorities for maintenance activities.
• Initiates energy saving programs to minimize operating cost and increase efficiency.
• This position acts within Company policy, the labor agreement, and all procedures which apply to maintenance activities in performing all job duties, and that safety, sanitation, and product protection standards are achieved.
Work Environment:
• The incumbent is required to work in a manufacturing environment which includes loud noise, stair climbing, and variable climates.
• Other working conditions area multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, extended work schedules, and specific time constraints.
• The job also requires the ability to operate a personal computer.

Education Required:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field plus a minimum of 5 years' experience OR High School Diploma/GED plus a minimum of 10 years related work experience.
• A technical education is required along with extensive job-related experience in the knowledge and understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering techniques.
Required Experience: Job holder must have proficient knowledge of processing and packaging equipment as well as other support utilities.
Preferred Experience: Food manufacturing experience preferred.
