Maintenance Mechanic

Summary

The maintenance mechanic position conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service. Under the guidance of supervision the mechanic performs maintenance/repairs to machine tools, welding machines, overhead cranes, air powered tools and other equipment as directed.

Essential Functions

1. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
2. Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.
3. Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production runs.
4. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
5. Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
6. Dis-assemble may be required, boring mills, drills, lathes, overhead cranes and other machines, repairs and re-assembles and checks operation prior to placing in service.
7. Performs electrical maintenance on various equipment, following all applicable safety standards.
8. Performs repair to fork-lifts, trucks as assigned, following all applicable safety standards.
9. Perform maintenance/repairs to air tooling as required.
10. Perform miscellaneous duties.
11. Becomes thoroughly familiar with the lock-out/tag-out safety standard and follows its directives completely.

Requirements

Qualifications

Knowledge-High School Diploma. Preferred knowledge of electrical and mechanical repair practices.

Skills- Must read and write the English language, use basic test equipment. Training or electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and required standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
