Maintenance Mechanic

Muskingum Iron and Metal is searching for a maintenance mechanic. A Maintenance Mechanic’s daily tasks will include regular PM routines of equipment and assets to keep them running and to prevent any costly unplanned downtime from unexpected equipment failures. If you don’t have much experience but have a willingness to learn, you could be the perfect fit for this hands-on opportunity.

About the company

Since 1929 Muskingum Iron & Metal Co has specialized in the processing of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal. We purchase scrap from the general public, commercial accounts, and industrial customers across the region. After segregating material by grade, we package it to meet mill furnace specifications so the material can be melted down to begin its new lifecycle. We currently operate five locations across Southeastern and Central Ohio. Muskingum Iron & Metal Co. is an equal opportunity employer.

Role

• Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment 
• Knowledge on how to troubleshoot and fix issues
• Regular cleaning, lubrication, replacing of parts, and equipment repair
• Ability to prioritize daily tasks to keep equipment up and running
• Sense of urgency to prevent long periods of downtime
• Ability to think proactively 
• To keep a sense of calmness when unexpected issues arise 
• Understanding that the work environment can consist of extreme temperatures

Qualifications

• Mechanically Inclined 
• Willingness to learn
• Welding, Hydraulic and Electrical experience is a plus
• Valid Driver License 
• Must have own tools
