The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on all manufacturing, packaging, and facility equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role supports production in a GMP-regulated environment, maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards while minimizing downtime.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments on manufacturing and packaging equipment, including mixers, fillers, cappers, labelers, conveyors, and utilities.
Execute preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with manufacturer specifications and SOPs.
Assist in equipment installation, setup, and validation for new machinery and production lines.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in accordance with cGMP and company documentation requirements.
Respond promptly to production calls for equipment repairs and support troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
Monitor and maintain facility systems such as HVAC, water purification, compressed air, and electrical systems.
Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve equipment performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Adhere to safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and OSHA standards while performing maintenance tasks.
Maintain an organized, safe, and compliant maintenance shop and spare parts inventory.
Any additional duties assigned by the Plant Manager or Chief Manufacturing Officer.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/trade school certification in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or related field preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or food manufacturing strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Familiarity with cGMP, FDA, and regulatory requirements for manufacturing environments.
Basic computer skills for documentation and maintenance software (CMMS experience a plus).
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive movements.
Ability to stand, bend, and climb for extended periods.
Comfortable working in manufacturing environments with exposure to chemicals, powders, and equipment noise.
