Maintenance Operator

GovFirst is seeking to hire multiple Maintenance Operators to support highway maintenance and repair activities in various locations across Virginia, including Bristol, Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Lynchburg, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, Salem, Staunton, Suffolk, and Surry, within the Transportation Operations Division. These operators will be responsible for operating and maintaining highway maintenance equipment, performing physically demanding tasks, and supporting safe and efficient roadway operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain light, medium, and heavy-duty highway maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  

• Perform heavy manual labor tasks including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds over a distance of 50 yards.
  

• Follow oral and written instructions clearly and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
  

• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other personnel both orally and in writing.
  

• Assist in maintaining highway maintenance equipment and tools to ensure proper operation and readiness.
  

Requirements

• Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.
  

• Skilled in the operation and maintenance of a variety of highway maintenance machinery.
  

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks as required.
  

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
  

• Strong communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
