Job Description - Maintenance / Shop Technician


As a Maintenance / Shop Technician at Samson Sky, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the development of our revolutionary flying sports car. This is a hands -on position that blends facility maintenance with direct involvement in prototype vehicle assembly and testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on facility infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Assist with the assembly, modification, and integration of vehicle components, including structural, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Contribute to vehicle manufacturing processes, including hands -on work with prototype components and systems
  • Support prototype fabrication, including cutting, grinding, drilling, and fitting of parts using hand and power tools
  • Set up and maintain shop equipment such as CNC machines, welders, lifts, and fabrication tools
  • Work closely with engineering and fabrication teams to build, test, and refine vehicle systems
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Manage shop inventory, tools, and consumables; assist with procurement and vendor coordination
  • Participate in facility improvement projects, including layout changes, equipment installation, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Document maintenance activities, equipment logs, and prototype build notes as needed
  • Provide general support for R&D operations, including test setup, tear down, and data collection assistance

            In addition to the technical knowledge, experience, and competence required, Company's employees must also possess personal aptitude for solving problems, high intelligence, perseverance, orderliness, responsibility and drive toward and satisfaction of attaining goals. Equally important qualities are calmness and endurance under stressful conditions, consistency and predictability in the regular attendance to duty, individual initiative as well as participation in group efforts, and correct estimation of existing circumstances. The employee must be upbeat, have effective communication skills, display fairness, empathy and appreciation of fellow workers, with an absence of unconstructive or ill -considered criticism.


The Valuable Final Products of the Maintenance Position would be: a working facility meeting the needs of Samson Staff. The Valuable Final Product for assisting in any assembly work or testing work would be: well documented and safe assembly work and testing work completed.

 

The two statistics for the Maintenance/Shop Tech position above would be: 1) % of facilities fully operational, and 2) % of a completed sub -assembly finished each week.

 




Requirements


  • Ability to lift reasonable weight, climb ladders and be comfortable at heights above ground, and do physical work
  • 2+ years of experience in facility maintenance, mechanical repair, or shop support
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands -on troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with power tools, shop equipment, and safety protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Self -motivated, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic R&D environment with evolving priorities
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or prototype fabrication environments
  • Background in vehicle manufacturing or assembly
  • Basic electrical or HVAC certification
  • Forklift certification
