Job Description - Maintenance Supervisor

Description

 The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for scheduling and directing Maintenance Technicians; train and provide work direction and guidance while performing work duties in a variety of different areas such as repairing production equipment and tools and maintaining the buildings and grounds. This is a first shift position, with flexible hours, typically Monday through Thursday 6:00am to 3:00pm, Friday 5:00am to 9:00am.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Schedules and directs the Maintenance department on tasks and assigns them to team members for completion.
  • Supports manufacturing production; conducts troubleshooting when needed on equipment and machines to repair maintenance issues.
  • Provides skilled mechanical and electrical support to all areas of manufacturing.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing equipment and machinery in operations; diagnoses and finds root causes in machine/equipment failures.
  • Maintains machinery and equipment by establishing and completing a preventive maintenance program. Ensures fellow team members adhere to PM program.
  • Installs, repairs, troubleshoots, and sets-up industrial process controls and pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
  • Orders parts and materials needed to complete work; specifies with Purchasing and/or venders to obtain correct items.
  • Use computer to access emails and internet to order parts and materials.
  • Oversees facility; maintaining all aspects of appearance and function of building and grounds.
  • Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and requirements, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • Requires an Associate’s degree in Maintenance or related field; and three (3) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed blueprints, mechanical drawings and symbols, assembly drawings, elementary electrical schematics, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
  • Familiar with machine lubrication, continuous improvement of machine PM’s and maintenance lubrication practices.
  • Ability to operate various tools and equipment including, but not limited to: hand and power tools, metal fabrication equipment, welding equipment, and a variety of measuring equipment.
  • Ability to do count, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos. Ability to prepare timesheets and job related paperwork. Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; occasionally required to sit and talk; frequently required to hear, walk and continuously stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Continuously exposed to manufacturing noise.
