JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Site Manager or other appropriate administrative staff, is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment, including repairs and maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities also include maintaining electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems for plant and fleet. Performs the work of employees and other duties as required and coordinates and supervises the work of other employees within the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring, testing instruments and tools.
Disassemble, repair or replace defective equipment parts using tools ranging from common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills and wrenches to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices equipment and reassemble.
Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate.
Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records.
Inspect drives, motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters or perform other maintenance actions.
Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment.
Perform regular service, maintenance and repair of tractors and trailers, bobcats, and forklifts.
Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise up to two (2) other employees within the work area. Other duties as assigned by the Site Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in manufacturing/shipping a plus
- Good mechanical, organizational, time-management, communication, and prioritization skills.
EDUCATION: A high school diploma or GED; or up to five years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
Must be able to read and interpret instructions, follow procedures, use simple math, and use basic hand held measuring tools
Must have a familiarity with stick and mig welding

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
