Responsibility:
The incumbent will be responsible for scheduling and assigning MOW Engineering inspectors to third party, adjacency projects, responding to emergency calls from Controls and Engineering managers, and performing routine field inspections to enforce, observe stop and report any contractor’s deviations or interference with NYCT operations, procedures, requirements and safety during construction. Emergency calls may include water main breaks, building collapses, building fires, and any other emergencies adjacent to the NYCT infrastructure which will affect train service. The incumbent will make timely and sound decisions in the absence of the engineer to coordinate, delegate, communicate and provide field support especially during emergency situations in the best interest of NYCT. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and verifying records and data for job assignments, payroll, sick leave, vacation, training and attendance sheets, including scheduling refresher and safety trainings while in the office. He/she will provide guidance and directions to Level I Maintenance Supervisors and structural maintainers on writing reports, training, discipline, counseling and overall enforcement of all rules, regulations and policy instructions in the field and office. The MS II is responsible for staffing allocation and will perform routine field work to provide support, quality control, and implement ways to improve the team.
Education and Experience:
Five years of full-time satisfactory experience with a major railroad or transit authority; at least one year of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Desired Skills:
- Must have good attendance and disciplinary records.
- Strong knowledge of elevated, underground, at‐grade, open cut and viaduct structures, and structural components as well as industry‐standard construction, safety, maintenance and repair methods and equipment.
- Must have comprehensive working knowledge of computer applications including Windows, Microsoft Office, including Access and Excel, PSR‐CAMS, DRAW, EAM, AS400 Timekeeping
program, Asite, Service Now and IRAILS.
Knowledge of NYCT procedures, rules, regulations and safety practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be familiar with maintenance responsibilities and NYCT’s organizational chain of command.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends as required.
