Job Description - Maintenance Team Lead $80,000-$100,000 DOE

Requirements:



  • At least 3-5 years supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Thorough working knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and engineering

  • Ability to lead a team to results while considering their input/ideas

  • Basic computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet


Preferred:



  • Familiarity with the entire process for manufacturing hardwood veneer or plywood.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and application

  • Bachelor's degree or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Oregon certification/equivalent as Millwright, Electrician, and/or Electrical Supervisor


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities



  1. Prefer familiarity with the entire process for manufacturing hardwood veneer or plywood.

  2. Understanding of basic accounting.

  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  4. Ability to handle multiple tasks.

  5. Available for travel as needed.

  6. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and business associates at all levels, individually or before groups of any size.

  7. Ability to delegate effectively.

  8. Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  9. Ability to interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.

  10. Have basic computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and internet use.


 


Education and/or Experience


Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer minimum 5 years supervisory and/or management experience.


Maintenance Team Lead


Summary: The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for directing and coordinating activities concerned with design, construction, and maintenance of equipment and maintenance of facilities. They are also responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the maintenance department, including direct supervision of first line supervisors and professional/support staff.


Key Responsibilities/Performance Standards:


Safety: Supports and models safe behaviors. Follows and reinforces all safety policies, procedures, and processes. Uses available resources to ensure that all at-risk behaviors and other safety hazards are corrected in a timely and effective manner and that supervisors do the same. Considers safety in all engineering/maintenance decisions and networks with supervision, management and others to ensure high-quality safety decisions. Actively supports all safety initiatives. Safety performance is measured by such factors as: OSHA-recordable incidence rate, safety work order completion rate, and quantity & quality of behavioral observations.


Managing: Organizes and plans work in advance, then follows up to ensure desired results. Keeps department informed. Conducts annual performance appraisals. Assesses and organizes employee training and development. Directly manages: Maintenance Supervisor.


Team Development: Maintains a highly motivated workforce through strong, positive leadership as measured by safety performance, employee satisfaction surveys, employee turnover and absenteeism. Conducts on-going improvement efforts through team planning and problem-solving meetings.


Budgeting and Cost Control: Effectively maintains equipment to continuously improve productivity, waste and quality. Proposes budgets and cost forecasts, and controls costs in the following line item budget areas: (1) Repair & Maintenance Labor, (2) Maintenance Supplies, (3) Extraordinary Supplies, (4) Shutdown Expense, and (5) Capital Projects.


Technical Responsibilities: Demonstrates a thorough understanding and working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic and engineering processes. Keep abreast of trends, developments, and new technology. Ensures that all work meets or exceeds all applicable codes and/or specification

Keep abreast of trends, developments, and new technology. Ensures that all work meets or exceeds all applicable codes and/or specifications.
