Maintenance Team Member and Lead HVAC Technician

Kiski School, a college-preparatory co-educational boarding school in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Team Member and Lead HVAC Technician to join our facilities team. This individual will play a vital role in the daily upkeep of the school’s campus—including dormitories, academic buildings, athletic facilities, and grounds—while also serving as the lead for HVAC systems maintenance and repair across campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the school’s lead technician for all HVAC-related systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and coordination of any outside service providers.


• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance for HVAC units, thermostats, ventilation systems, and related equipment.


• Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs as needed.


• Assist with campus event setup and breakdown (furniture moving, equipment transport, etc.).


• Support seasonal facilities work, including snow removal and grounds maintenance.


• Respond promptly to work orders and emergency repair needs, especially those involving climate control or critical HVAC failures.


• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with relevant codes and school policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.


• 3+ years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair; experience leading or coordinating HVAC work preferred.


• Certification in HVAC or refrigeration (EPA Section 608 or equivalent) required.


• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a range of HVAC systems.


• Experience in general building maintenance and repair.


• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in varying weather conditions.


• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and attention to detail.


• Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Trade certifications in additional areas (plumbing, electrical, etc.) a plus.


• Experience working in a school, campus, or residential facility setting.
