Job Description - Maintenance Technician

    Central Ozarks Medical Center (COMC) is excited to announce an opening for a Maintenance Technician to be locted in our Richland, Missouri!  COMC is a Missouri non-profit, federally qualified health center that has served Pulaski, Laclede, Camden and Miller counties for over 40 years.  Our goal is to provide the highest quality, affordable healthcare to the communities we serve.

Responsibilities: The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and appearance of all COMC facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks, addressing repairs, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations across multiple locations.


                                                                                                           


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


 


Facility & Equipment Maintenance



  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of buildings, ensuring all facilities remain in safe and operational condition.

  • Complete minor repairs, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC filter changes, carpentry, painting, and general mechanical tasks.

  • Ensure all fire suppression and safety systems remain in compliance, including scheduling required inspections and certifications.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in utility rooms and storage areas.


Mobile Units Maintenance (Dental, Medical, Optometry)



  • Drive and set up mobile medical and dental units, ensuring proper electrical, water, and sewer connections.

  • Perform routine maintenance and scheduling of vehicle servicing, including generator system checks.

  • Keep vehicles clean and operational, reporting any major repair needs.


Grounds & Environmental Maintenance



  • Maintain landscaping, remove debris, ensure clear gutters and drainage systems, pick up litter, mowing, and weed eating.

  • Apply salt or ice melt to sidewalks as needed for safety.

  • Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies as required.


Compliance & Safety



  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and maintain records of hazardous materials used.

  • Conduct regular facility inspections and report any issues requiring major repairs.

  • Maintain proper documentation of all maintenance and repair activities.

  • Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA and 340B regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.


General Duties


Completes daily inter-office delivery route, stopping at all clinics to pick up or deliver inter-office items including mail, packages, and laboratory specimens. 



  • Work collaboratively with other team members and external vendors.

  • Attend department meetings and training sessions as required.

  • Provide outstanding customer service to patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Employees must have valid Missouri CDL license with experience driving large commercial vehicles and the ability to be insured as a covered driver. 


 


Education and/or experience, Skillset: High school diploma or GED required.  Minimum of 2 years’ experience in building maintenance, mechanical repairs, or related fields; Must possess variety of general skills in electrical, plumbing, landscaping, renovation, carpentry, and automotive skills.  Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems. It requires good eyesight, ability to read, computer skills and physical stamina to lift objects 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally. 


 


Language Skills: Ability to respond to common inquiries or maintenance requests from team members as necessary.  The ability to effectively communicate information to management as necessary.


 


Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with estimates, basic math skills (i.e., adding, subtracting, percentages) and carpentry measurement skills.


 


Other Skills and Abilities: Excellent customer service skills.

    Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.



    • Requires lifting and moving up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.

    • Involves standing, walking, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.

    • Work is performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.

    • Exposure to maintenance-related hazards such as tools, chemicals, and environmental factors.


    Travel Requirements: To fulfill the responsibility of the position with travel to all COMC locations.  Employee must have a valid Missouri CDL license and ability to be insured as a covered driver.


     


    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday with rotating on call schedule for evenings and weekends. Must have the ability to be flexible as there will be some evenings and weekends that maintenance items or emergency work orders will need to take place.

Knowledge of, and compliance with, HIPAA and 340B regulations is required. Confidentiality of patient information is mandatory.
