Maintenance Technician

Description

A Maintenance Technician's job is to keep a building or facility in good working order through regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs. They perform tasks like fixing plumbing, electrical issues, and HVAC systems, while also handling routine maintenance, landscaping, and ensuring safety compliance. They may also be responsible for developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7am – 3:30pm

 Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1.   Equipment Maintenance

• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machinery and systems.
• Inspect mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in equipment and facilities.

2. Repair Work

• Diagnose mechanical issues and fix faulty electrical wiring, motors, or control systems.
• Replace worn-out or defective parts such as bearings, filters, belts, or sensors.
• Repair HVAC, plumbing, or structural elements as needed.

3. Safety Compliance

• Follow and enforce all safety protocols and regulations.
• Maintain safety equipment and ensure that emergency systems (e.g., fire extinguishers, alarms) are functional.
• Report hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisors.

4. Record Keeping

• Document maintenance and repair activities.
• Keep track of inventory for tools, parts, and supplies.
• Update logs and schedules for preventive maintenance.

5.   Facility Support

• Respond to facility work orders and service requests.
• Perform routine tasks like painting, light construction, cleaning, or landscaping.
• Ensure facilities are in working order and meet operational standards.

6.   Communication & Coordination

• Work with other technicians, engineers, and contractors to complete large-scale maintenance projects.
• Provide feedback to management on recurring problems or necessary upgrades.
• Train or assist new or junior maintenance staff.

Requirements

Physical Requirements

 · Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb or balance, crouch or crawl   

· Use hands and arms for repetitive tasks

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 

· Ability to climb ladders, go into confined spaces, and not afraid of heights. 

· Working in a non-climate-controlled environment

Education Requirements

 Essential:  

· High School Diploma or GED 

Desirable:

· Technical Certificate

· Associate's degree in relevant field 

Previous Experience

Essential: 

·5+ years working in an industrial or commercial industry 

· Experience in a manufacturing environment

Desirable:

·PLC Programming

·Experience working with boilers 

·Experience with Variable Drives

· Well verse in low and High voltage Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic and Pneumatics.
