We are currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with strong maintenance experience to help us maintain clean, safe, and fully operational facilities across multiple locations.
Position Summary:
This vital role ensures all Sunshine Schools facilities are safe, functional, and inviting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a high level of initiative, capable of identifying and resolving maintenance and cleanliness needs without supervision. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with leadership to address facility priorities and maintain standards of excellence across all sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage general facility maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
- Conduct landscaping and implement preventative maintenance procedures for both interior and exterior areas.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations specific to childcare facilities.
- Respond promptly and independently to maintenance issues across multiple locations. Including Greenville, Winterville, Ayden, New Bern and Morehead City.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or installations, providing recommendations to leadership.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and materials used.
- Oversee and manage the inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
- Receive and distribute deliveries to appropriate facilities from the corporate office.
- Train staff on proper maintenance and safety protocols, and ensure safe handling and storage of hazardous materials.
- Remain available for emergencies and act decisively to ensure child and staff safety, which includes nights and weekends.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and general building systems.
- Ability to lift/move heavy equipment, bend, stoop, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities across multiple locations.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of safety codes and compliance requirements for childcare facilities.
- Must pass a background check.
