Job Summary:
This role is responsible for the upkeep and general maintenance of housing properties, ensuring clean, safe, and operational environments. The position involves a wide range of custodial and maintenance duties, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and groundskeeping, with an emphasis on accountability and collaboration across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete and document all work orders, prioritizing emergency repairsand meeting completion deadlines.
- Conduct routine inspections and perform maintenance on common areas, building systems, and apartment units.
- Execute basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC repairs.Manage apartment turnovers, including cleaning and painting, within established timelines.
- Maintain supply inventories and ensure all service and storage areas are clean and well-organized.
- Support emergency response and participate in on-call rotation for 24-hour maintenance coverage.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in building maintenance.
- Valid Virginia drivers license and reliable vehicle required.
- Must own tools necessary to perform job duties.
- Ability to pass a background check and insurance review.
- OSHA and HVAC certification preferred.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
- Ability to walk, climb, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Capability to reach, bend, and lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
- Fine hand coordination for handling and operating tools and devices.
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and listening clearly and effectively.
- Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions and directions.
- Must possess the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Capable of operating a vehicle and traveling as needed for the role.
- Must be able to use a computer, cell phone, monitor, mouse, and keyboard extensively.
