Position Title: Maintenance Technician


Work Locations: Assigned Mines in Powder River Basin


Shop Location: Gillette, WY 


Reports To: Maintenance Leads>General Manager



Job Summary: AKJ Chemicals is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance operations at our serviced mine locations throughout the Powder River Basin. The Maintenance Technician will ensure that all equipment and facilities are functioning efficiently and safely, adhering to company standards and regulatory requirements.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime and extend machinery lifespan.

  • Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and technical issues promptly to minimize production interruptions.

  • Safety Compliance: Follow all OSHA/MSHA and company safety standards. Participate in regular safety audits and training.

  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing the inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and equipment logs.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Maintenance Lead, production, and other departments to ensure seamless operations and address maintenance-related issues.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance plant efficiency and reliability.

  • On-Call Duties: Perform on-call duties as assigned to address urgent maintenance issues outside regular working hours.



Qualifications:



  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical and electrical maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment.

  • Certifications: Relevant maintenance certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) are a plus.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management software.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals and machinery noise.



Working Conditions: This position involves working in a chemical plant environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials and loud machinery. Safety equipment and protocols must be adhered to at all times. Overtime and on-call duties required.
