Maintenance Technician

Key Duties/Responsibilities

This position is responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting a wide range of factory automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, and pneumatic systems.

Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical control circuits, including both AC and DC systems and facility wiring.

•  Perform preventive maintenance inspections 
•  Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts
•  Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines
•  Repair broken machines quickly and efficiently
•  Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintains shop areas
•  Make necessary modifications and implement test runs
•  Prepare reports documenting work performed
•  Fabrication or repair of basic equipment and tools needed for operations
•  Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

This position will work nights, weekends, holidays, etc. Required Skills/Abilities

•   3–5 years of hands-on experience in automation troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance—preferably within the food processing and packaging industry.
•  Strong understanding of control systems and factory automation components.
•  Solid experience with electrical diagnostics and working with live electrical circuits.
• Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, electrical diagrams, and manuals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
•  Ability to follow directions, work independently and work well in a team
• Ability to verbally communicate with other departments
• Ability to organize self and others to complete tasks and responsibilities 
• Ability to read and comprehend specifications and use them to accomplish tasks
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment
• Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment  

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least 3-5 years related experience preferred
• On-the-job training offered

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods standing and walking
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• Working in 30 to 50-degree Fahrenheit environment
