As a Maintenance Technician with this company, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining all production machinery. This role is a Jack of all trades type role and it handles all phases of maintenance and repair work including mechanical, electrical controls, pneumatic, hydraulic, welding, etc. This company has steel slitting lines and you will be maintaining them and all other machinery and equipment, like electric motors, chain driven equipment, bearings, gears, heating equipment and other.
This is a Monday - Friday day shift role and your hours will be 6 AM to 2:30 PM. There will be some overtime, especially while working on projects. You will report to the Maintenance Manager who is based in New Mexico but spends his time between several mills. He will spend a few weeks with you as you start up with them, focusing on growing the maintenance skills you have less experience with. He will stay with you until he feels you are ready to handle any issues on your own, as there is only one maintenance technician on a shift. While this is a very autonomous position, once you are up to speed, the Maintenance Manager is always available either on the phone or virtually for any issues that come up.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform preventative maintenance to all plant machinery
2. Review the operation of plant equipment and systems to evaluate need for maintenance or repair
3. Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs through a quick and effective root cause analogy
4. Maintain low percentage of maintenance downtime
5. Complete work order documentation
6. Monitor control systems, hydraulic systems, fire protection, and mechanical bearing
systems
7. Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies
8. Assist in new equipment installation as needed
9. Perform facilities maintenance as deemed necessary by plant management
