Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician repairs and maintains the hospital by completing assigned work requests and performing preventive maintenance on various equipment within their areas of expertise.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform general facilities maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and functional environment.
• Conduct electrical repairs and installations as needed.
• Handle plumbing issues, including repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Assist with sheetrock installation and repair.
• Support partial landscaping efforts, including outdoor upkeep.
• Provide mechanical support for vehicles as required.
• Manage pool maintenance, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met.
• Execute preventative maintenance on assigned equipment under supervision
• Escort vendors and technicians through the facility to initiate repairs and provide assistance as needed.
• Assist with office moves and the relocation of items across campus, including assembling, repairing, and moving furniture such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, and shelves.
• Identify and report hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Follow safe working practices and utilize appropriate safety equipment as required.
• Handle event setups and assist with parking during events.
• Maintain records and logs of daily activities as requested.
• Listen and respond to employee issues and concerns, taking ownership of problems and resolving them. Escalate issues to the Supervisor when necessary.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must have a valid driver’s license with record acceptable to SHH insurance carrier
• Must have the ability to function optimally in a stressful environment, and the ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with team members, vendors, and customers.
• Familiarity with safety practices and procedures related to facilities maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools relevant to maintenance tasks.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 0 to 3 of experience in a hospital setting in a facilities maintenance role.
• Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
• Relevant certifications or training in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights as necessary.
