Job Description - Maintenance Technician



Full-time


Description

**Weekends on call, as needed. Initial training will be located in Pittsburg and Fort Scott. Position will cover Independence, Coffeyville, Bartlesville, and Parsons clinic locations.**

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This position is part of the facility team. This position is responsible to maintain machinery, equipment, and physical structures. Responsible for preventative maintenance on electrical/HVAC, generator and vehicle fleet. Responsible for following universal precautions and Safety Data Sheets requirements. Responsibilities are for all clinic locations.


Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Evaluates defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts, if applicable.
  • Responsible for repairs and maintenance of dental equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and light repairs in and around facilities some which requires extension ladder and roof-top confidence.
  • Maintains vehicle fleet including cleaning, routine maintenance and facilitating repairs, as directed.
  • Assists in the set up of offices and/or new clinic locations.
  • Provides support to the mobile health clinic vehicle including training on van's operational and mechanical systems, as directed.  
  • Troubleshoots and repairs minor plumbing and electrical problems; replaces a variety of light bulbs 
  • Light grounds keeping as needed which may include power washing, sidewalk sweeping, snow removal and de-icing.  
  • Reports and responds to immediate or emergency calls for maintenance assistance. 
  • Provides support for duties assigned to custodial technicians.
  • Maintains inventory and submits written requests for needed supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a maintenance tech position, preferred.
  • Any combination of education and work experience to provide relatable experience or knowledge for a maintenance tech position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.
  • Must be organized and able to manage/prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, adapts to change in a positive manner, able to work as a part of a team.
  • Communicates through appropriate channels. Use proper chain of command for patient complaints.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Must be computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be able to maintain good inter-personal relationship with co-workers and other members of the health care team and the organization.
  • Provide customer service in accordance to the organization’s mission.
  • Be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to organization’s policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The job requires work both in the clinic and outdoors in all weather conditions. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. May be required to move or lift objects heavier than 50 pounds depending on project. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception. Work in outdoor and indoor environments. Travel is required.
