Apprenticeship Program Details:
This is a unique opportunity for students enrolled in Motlow College’s Mechatronics Program to gain practical experience and hands-on training in the field of maintenance technology.
Program Benefits:
Paid Tuition: MI Metals covers the cost of your Mechatronics Program at Motlow College.
Earn While You Learn: Work 20 hours per week on-site while dedicating 20 hours to school/study time. You will be paid for a total of 40 hours per week.
On-the-Job Training: Receive hands-on training in maintenance and repair techniques under the guidance of experienced technicians.
Key Responsibilities: While working alongside fully qualified maintenance technicians to learn skills of industrial machine maintenance. Assist with maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing all machines.
Assist with troubleshooting and repairing electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems across the plant.
Learn to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics to support maintenance tasks.
Participate in preventative maintenance programs and support equipment breakdown repairs.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
Work closely with senior technicians and team members to develop your technical skills.
Qualifications
Enrollment in or acceptance to Motlow College’s Mechatronics Program.
Strong interest in pursuing a career in industrial maintenance and repair.
Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work in environments with heat, noise, and chemicals.
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
Ability to work near heat and chemicals with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Ear plugs, safety glasses, long pants (uniforms provided after probationary period), steel-toed shoes with metatarsal guards (reimbursed up to maximum shoe allowance after probationary period). (Gloves, protective sleeves)
