POSITION: Maintenance Technician

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary

Will be responsible for the safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs, as well as, performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of packaging machinery, pneumatic systems, motor controls, and miscellaneous industrial electrical wiring. Must ensure efficient production and compliance with all Company quality, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all production equipment in assigned area under the guidance of higher-level production mechanics.
  • Maintain open, accurate communication with other maintenance employees as well as production management.
  • Complete all assigned work orders completely and accurately document all prudent information describing the completion of the work order.
  • Work with production operators to identify process improvements wherever possible.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained to maintain SQF certification.
  • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Education/Experience)

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of plant maintenance mechanic experience; preferably in a food processing facility.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance activities and procedures.
  • Intermediate computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts to identify solutions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

FLSA Designation: This position is Hourly Non-Exempt and is eligible for overtime.
