Maintenance Technician II
Role overview
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of company facilities, laboratory spaces, and equipment. This role supports both building infrastructure and laboratory operations, including maintenance, modification, and installation of mechanical, electrical, and lab systems. The position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can work independently and collaboratively in a scientific manufacturing environment.
Key deliverables for this role
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on facility equipment including vacuum pumps, chillers, air handlers, generators, freezers, ovens, and building utilities.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems, including motors, pumps, HVAC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Support laboratory operations including large-scale glassware setup, instrument maintenance, lab inspections, housekeeping, and supply stocking.
- Participate in lab and pilot-scale system planning, construction, installation, and equipment modification.
- Maintain and repair laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
- Support building maintenance, facility repairs, upgrades, and minor construction projects.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment records.
- Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE.
Traits of a strong candidate
- High School Diploma or GED (required); technical degree or certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance, facilities, or technical roles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Experience with pipefitting, compression fittings, gas delivery systems, vacuum systems, chillers, and chemical fume hoods preferred.
- Familiarity with chemical lab equipment and analytical instruments.
- Basic welding skills and forklift experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience with facility repair, maintenance, or construction projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience handling air-sensitive chemicals is a plus
