Maintenance Technician

Harlan County Health System is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team and assist in the operation and maintenance of all hospital structures, plant components, utilities, and systems. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all hospital facilities are functioning efficiently and effectively to provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

- Assist in the operation and maintenance of all hospital structures, plant components, utilities, and systems, including electric, water systems, steam, air, gas and fuel oil, sanitary systems, refrigeration and HVAC systems, communication systems, fire alarm systems, plant security, and grounds.

- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing filters, lubricating equipment, and inspecting systems for potential issues.

- Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to determine the root cause and implement appropriate solutions.

- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment maintenance logs, and inventory of supplies and equipment.

- Performs ground maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.

- Operates and maintains lawn care equipment safely. 

- Inspects and maintains parking lots and sidewalks, including helipad to enhance safe access to Harlan County Health System.

- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

- Assist in the coordination of contractors and vendors for larger maintenance projects.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Previous experience in maintenance or a related field preferred.

- Knowledge of building systems and utilities, including electric, water, steam, air, gas and fuel oil, sanitary, refrigeration and HVAC systems, communication systems, fire alarm systems, plant security, and grounds.

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies.
