Maintenance/Custodial Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This is an hourly position that requires the daily cleaning and maintenance of the Central Aroostook Association buildings. The maintenance custodial position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and primarily works with little or no supervision. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sweeping and mopping floors

Waxing, stripping, buffing and maintenance of flooring

Vacuuming rugs, dusting walls, desks, blinds, wash windows, cleaning bathrooms

Lawn care and snow removal

Maintenance duties as needed

Trouble shooting concerns with plumbing, electrical, building, etc.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a variety of offices, home, and community settings, and may work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. Exposure to consumers who may exhibit verbal and physically aggressive behavior. Risk to exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Noise levels can be loud. 

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:

• Previous maintenance and custodial      experience preferred
• Ability and willingness to manage emotional or physical      emergencies that can arise.
• Ability to work on a team, sharing responsibilities with      co-workers, accepting directions from supervisors, and contributing ideas.
• Ability to pass all required trainings, specified by the program.

Education Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

• High School Diploma or      General Education Degree (GED) required
• CERTIFICATES, LICENSES,      REGISTRATIONS: (If required by program)
  • Must maintain a valid       State of Maine Driver’s License and be insurable by Central Aroostook       Association’s insurance carrier.
