Job Description - Maintenance/Electrical Engineer

Introduction to SK on Tennessee

SK On Tennessee is the newest North American entity of SK On, a global leading battery and trading company committed to technological innovation for a better, sustainable future. Located in Stanton, Tennessee, SK On Tennessee was established in 2026 as a stand-alone SK On company having previously operated as joint-venture BlueOval SK since 2023.

 

Spanning approximately 4 million square feet, SK On Tennessee is a state-of-the-art facility operating like no other manufacturing plant in West Tennessee. From climate controlled, highly automated, and clean room conditions, our team will usher in a new brand of safety-focused manufacturing. With a projected start of production in 2028, SK On Tennessee is preparing to Power What’s Next with its next-generation electric batteries.

 

Parent company SK On also operated facilities elsewhere in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

The Maintenance Engineer at SK on Tennessee – BlueOval City in Stanton, Tennessee will have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a key member of the start-up team, launching the facility.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Optimization of current production processes
  • Coaching plants in continuous improvement, standardization, and lean concepts
  • Assisting plants in addressing equipment down time issues
  • Developing preventative / predictive Industrial maintenance practices to ensure 100% equipment uptime in high volume manufacturing
  • Oversee PM programs for Battery Manufacturing equipment
  • Assist in Equipment spare part management
  • Providing input on new equipment design and purchase
  • Supporting new model / equipment launch as required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Ability to optimize equipment programs and troubleshoot issues to identify root cause
    • Excellent communicator who can train both hourly and salary team members
    • Must be a self-starter who will take ownership of projects and see them through to completion with limited supervision
    • Candidate must be flexible to significant travel
  • Ability to support any shift in a 7-day work pattern
  • Candidate must be flexible to significant travel during initial plant start-up phase
  • Candidate must be willing to work remotely and in-person at temporary facilities as needed during the initial plant start-up phase
  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors consisting of outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial or Electrical / Automation engineering preferred. Equivalent experience accepted
  • Experience:  3-5 years experience in manufacturing; stamping experience preferred
    • Robot / interpress transfer (ABB / Fanuc / Gudel)
    • Stamping / press equipment
    • Vision experience strongly preferred (Cognex)
    • PLC competency.
    • Lean implementation
    • AutoCAD
