Requirements:          

The Majorette Coach is responsible for choreographing, teaching, and supervising all aspects of the majorette program as part of the marching band. The coach will train students in twirling, dance, and performance skills while ensuring coordination with the band’s overall visual presentation. This role involves planning routines, leading practices, and preparing the majorettes for performances at football games, parades, and competitions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and teach baton twirling routines and dance choreography for performances.
  
  


• Lead and manage practices during band camp and the performance season.
  
  


• Teach fundamental and advanced twirling techniques, including single and multiple baton tricks.
  
  


• Coordinate with the band director and visual staff to ensure routines align with the band’s show theme and timing.
  
  


• Supervise students during all rehearsals, performances, and travel events.
  
  


• Conduct tryouts and assist in the selection of majorette team members.
  
  


• Promote discipline, teamwork, and professionalism among participants.
  
  


• Maintain and manage majorette uniforms, batons, and accessories.
  
  


• Attend all required band practices, performances, games, parades, and competitions.
  
  


• Ensure a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all students.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Experience in majorette performance and/or instruction (high school, collegiate, or competitive level).
  
  


• Knowledge of proper twirling technique and performance safety.
  
  


• Ability to choreograph engaging and age-appropriate routines.
  
  


• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  
  


• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
  
  


• Must be available for practices, games, and competitions during evenings and weekends.
  
  

Preferred:

• Experience coaching majorette or dance line teams.
  
  


• CPR/First Aid certification.
  
  


• Experience working in a school or youth program setting.
  
  

Working Conditions:

• Outdoor and indoor rehearsals and performances.
  
  


• Requires physical activity including demonstrating routines and movements.
  
  


• May involve travel with the band to events and competitions.

Requirements:          Demonstrate overall good health.

        
                          Demonstrate ability to communicate in clear, concise manner with

                                 
others.

Terms of

Employment:             Stipend Coaching Agreement 

Evaluation:                  Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the 

            provisions of the Sussex County School Board’s policy manual.
