Job Description - Makerspace Specialist

Summary:


The Makerspace Specialist is responsible for maintaining the proper supply and use of the Makerspaces at Benton, Bryant, and East End; planning and presenting adult and family programs within the Makerspaces; and coordinating with fellow Adult Services team members to ensure the proper implementation of all Adult Services programs that have been approved by the Adult Services Manager.



Qualifications:


High school diploma plus two years of customer service and program planning experience required.


Bachelor’s degree and library program planning experience preferred. Grant writing experience preferred



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Must have excellent communication skills

  • Must be computer literate with a willingness to learn new technologies

  • Can create and maintain professional relationships with colleagues

  • Can willingly work with people of all ages

  • Can maintain patience in chaotic situations

  • Ability to walk and/or stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 pounds

  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and Saturdays

  • Ability to manage several projects at once


  • Ability to project manage with other team members



Responsibilities:



  • Works closely with Adult Services and Youth Services to plan and execute Makerspace


         programs for a variety of age groups.



  • Communicates regularly with patrons regarding Makerspace needs and wants.

  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining Makerspace inventory and Makerspace Kits.

  • Operates and instructs in the use of various machines such as but not limited to: 3D printers, poster printers, Glowforge, etc.

  • Assists patrons in locating materials and finding further skills information. 

  • Monitors patron behavior and enforces Library Code of Conduct in a professional


         manner. 



  • Maintains a fun, inviting, clean and safe space by keeping the area organized. 

  • Participates in Library of Things collection maintenance. 

  • Recommends Makerspace updates, service, and/or programs.

  • Other duties as assigned
