Job Description - Mammography Supervisor (1.0 Days - Munster)

At Franciscan, our Supervisor Mammography is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities and specialized functions of the Mammography section. The Supervisor monitors work performed to maintain optimal timeliness, accuracy, proficiency, efficiency, and safety of Mammography staff, including ensuring the maintenance of discipline within their section and providing a familiar and structured base to meet accreditation processes for accrediting bodies.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Monday - Friday 8a-4:30p

  • Ensure operation of mammography equipment by completing preventive maintenance; instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories.

  • Keep mammography supplies and patient drapes ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; collecting and processing laundry.

  • Maintain production and quality of mammograms by following established standards and procedures; developing mammograms; observing mammogram results; determining necessary adjustments for optimum results; retaking mammograms as required; forwarding completed studies to radiologist for interpretation.

  • Document patient mammogram services by completing patient record charting.

  • Collaborate on patient medical issues with the physician to determine protocol and procedure.

  • Complete all imaging exams and procedures; identifies optimal images for review, processing, and evaluation according to policy and protocol.

  • Confirm patient identify and obtain and records patient identification, medical history, or test results Review and update patient documentation in EHR/PACS.

  • Participate in people management activities for direct team members, such as conducting performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and interviews.

  • Schedule and delegate work assignments to coworkers according to department needs in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Maintain high level of communication with staff with constant rounding; ensure staff is held accountable for hospital learning requirements; ensure policies and procedures are followed and review when necessary.

  • Run daily reports to track unsigned studies, daily charges and study turnaround times.

  • Log reports with EPIC team to improve workflow.

  • Block and release green time in EPIC to fit staffing needs, meeting schedule and patient needs.

  • Monitor PACS HOLD, FIX, and UNREAD list to ensure studies are read in a timely manner.

  • Provide adequate patient education for procedure and protocol preparation.

  • Address QA issues with staff according to radiologist's needs.

  • Select and maintain a preceptor for new staff orientation to the department.

  • Research, implement, and maintain new protocols as prescribed by the radiologist.

  • Give training sessions to coworkers, to ensure competencies are met.

  • Provide guidance for acquiring continuing education units to meet registry requirements.


Qualifications

  • Required Certificate Radiology

  • Preferred Associate's Degree Radiology

  • 1 year Radiology Required

  • 1 year Mammography Preferred

  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association

  • Radiology Technologist License (RADTECH) - State Licensing Board in applicable state
