So, what does a Manager – Data Analytics & Reporting do?
The Manager – Data Analytics & Reporting leads the organization’s data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence functions to enhance visibility into business results and inform decision making. This role is responsible for delivering data-focused insights, developing scalable reporting solutions, and translating complex data into actionable information for senior leadership.
This individual partners across all business functions to align reporting capabilities with evolving business needs, ensuring data-driven insights support operational performance, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Reporting Leadership:
Lead and develop the data analytics and reporting function, including mentorship and support of analysts and reporting resources. Set priorities, manage workloads, and oversee the intake and delivery of reporting and analytics requests to ensure high-quality outputs aligned with business goals. Lead the mining, modeling, and transformation of enterprise data. Establish and maintain scalable data pipelines across systems. Develop structured data models for operational and financial reporting. Identify automation and advanced analytics opportunities.
Data Strategy & Management:
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data used in reporting by establishing effective data quality governance, standards, and processes.
- Define and drive data management strategy, standards, and best practices to support scalable and reliable reporting.
- Ensure data architecture, processes, and tools are aligned with business needs and performance expectations.
- Continuously enhance data capabilities, identifying opportunities to leverage automation and advanced analytics to improve efficiency and insight generation.
- Oversee master data alignment across ERP, dispatch, CRM, and operational systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Support:
- Partner with business leaders to analyze, define, and prioritize reporting needs and design new or enhanced reporting functionality to ensure alignment with current and evolving business processes and requirements.
- Support compliance, system implementation, and data transformation initiatives, ensuring reporting remains aligned with system changes, integrations, and evolving organizational needs.
Data Visualization & Communication:
- Develop clear, concise, and impactful dashboards, scorecards, and executive-level reporting packages.
- Present insights in a way that enables informed, data-driven decision making across all levels of the organization.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor business performance.
- Provide ongoing reporting and analysis to track progress against organizational goals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Master’s degree (MBA, MIS) preferred. - Experience:
5+ years of experience in data analytics, reporting, or business intelligence roles, with demonstrated experience delivering insights to senior leadership. Prior leadership or team management experience preferred. 3+ years in a supervisory, managerial, or technical leadership role, preferred. - Technical Proficiency:
Strong experience with SQL, Python, Excel, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI). Experience building dashboards, reports, and automated reporting solutions is required. - Analytical Skills:
Proven ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable business recommendations. - Business & Reporting Acumen:
Experience developing KPI frameworks and delivering reporting that supports operational and strategic decision making. - Communication Skills:
Strong ability to present complex data clearly and effectively to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP, CRM, or enterprise systems is a plus
- Expertise with Databricks, Snowflake, C60 or similar data and analytics platforms is highly preferred
- Experience with development through Microsoft Fabric is preferred.
- Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and reporting best practices
- Experience supporting system implementations or reporting enhancements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
