Your responsibilities will include Work with Procurement to ensure that the outside physical prototype supply base is qualified and delivers quality work on a consistent basis. Ensure effective use of the Physical Prototyping resources at hand by ensuring that Model Shop Requests received are at the appropriate level of concept readiness and optimization. Provide day to day leadership to the NAR model shop team that enables all constituents to contribute to the best of their ability. Deliver the Performance Management Process for the department and prepare/conduct the calibration process throughout the plan year. Actively develop employees and drive for continuous learning. Proactively drive improvement in employee engagement. Work with our customers to enhance the visibility of upcoming physical prototype work requests so that the appropriate lead times can be communicated into category project plans and resource planning can be accomplished. Work with the Product categories to ensure that work undertaken supports the category project priorities. Work with the Category Project Teams to understand Project Physical Prototyping needs and the best manner (internal and/or external) in which resources can be applied (build readiness reviews). Work with and lead the Shop Supervisors and the Model Shop Sourcing Specialists to ensure efficient planning and execution of Model Shop Requests. Introduce new workflow methodologies and tools into daily operations Bachelor's degree required. Major in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred. Minimum of 10 years of Mechanical Design, Process Engineering, Model, Manufacturing, or relevant experience required. Excellent people management skills; proven success developing employees, developing and managing objectives, improving employee engagement, building teamwork, providing open, honest, and timely feedback, etc. Strong understanding of Lean and/or Six Sigma methodology. Experience in driving Lean and/or Six Sigma activities. Strong leadership and team building skills with a focus on the customer. A solid understanding of the Physical Prototyping process including appropriate material usage, low volume production processes, tooling and techniques. Demonstrated project planning skills based on either successful manufacturing or product design related activities. Solid understanding of the Product Design, Development and Delivery process. Understanding of the roles of both Physical and Virtual Prototyping in the Product Design and Delivery Process. A team player with the proven ability to work with diverse personalities and groups. Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to balance multiple priorities. Proven success in a results-oriented and deadline-oriented environment. Strong PC skills
