Together with our group of experts across the technical spectrum, you\u2019ll discover opportunities to make a difference in our world and start solving some of the world\u2019s most critical problems in the most innovative ways. \n\nNorthrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Manager 3 \u2013 Analysis to join our Propulsion Systems \u0026 Controls Business Unit Engineering group at the Elkton, MD or Palm Beach Gardens, FL locations.\n\nThe Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS\u0026C) Business Unit designs and develops solid rocket motor and liquid-fueled air-breathing propulsion solutions for various defense and aerospace applications, including hypersonic missions. PS\u0026C is comprised of approximately 800 personnel across our three campus locations in Elkton, Maryland (headquarters), Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Ronkonkoma, New York. \n\nElkton, Maryland is located in the Northeast, conveniently located within 1 hour of Baltimore, Maryland and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Palm Beach Gardens, FL is located on the Southestern coast of Florida, approximately 1.5 hours north of Miami Beach and 2 hours south of Orlando. There are many land-based and water-based attractions in close proximity to both locations.\n\nJob Description\n\nAs the leader of the Analysis group, consisting of approximately 40 engineers and 4 managers, you will be responsible for ensuring that our analyses are conducted with appropriate technical rigor, the onboarding, training, and development of our personnel, and improvements to our processes and tools. Disciplines covered within the Analysis group include computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, structural, dynamics and performance analysis.\n\nJob Responsibilities\n\n * Managing execution of all analysis activities, with focus on technical excellence while meeting schedule and cost objectives. \n * Development of a strategic plan to improve analysis capabilities, processes and tools.\n * Ensuring that we are appropriately staffed with the right talent and skill levels across the technical staff to support the programs and department budgets.\n * Mentoring and motivating to ensure a high performing team. This includes use of development plans, stretch assignments, 1:1 meetings and feedback, training, recognition, promotion/equity and other methods to develop and reward our engineering talent.\n * Setting and promoting high standards for quality and safety through peer reviews, process control, and performance feedback. Ensure compliance with all command media processes and standards in our technical solutions.\n * Taking a leadership role in solving significant technical issues. Working with our teams to develop plans, ensure appropriate technical resources are applied, resolve the issue, and advise senior management on progress.\n * Supporting program technical reviews, proposal reviews, or other technical meetings.\n * Maintaining state-of-the-art knowledge with respect to analytical methods through internal networking, education, customer interactions, and technical conferences.\n * Representing and communicating Northrop Grumman technical capabilities and technologies to build relationships with internal and external customers.\n\n\n\nSuccess in this role will require sound scientific/technical judgment, innovative thinking and excellent interpersonal/management skills in order to plan, motivate and accomplish goals through your staff.\n\nTo learn more about our hiring process for manager positions, please view our Selecting the Best Qualified Managers video: www.northropgrumman.com/SQMVideo\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering and 14 Years of experience or 12 years of experience with a Master\u2019s degree in Engineering\n * Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite\n * Strong technical background in analysis methodology and practice\n * Must be a self-starter and possess the skills necessary to lead and motivate others, achieving results in a timely manner\n * 5+ years of project team or people leadership experience\n * Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills to all levels of an organization\n * Ability to travel (5-10%) to meet with off-site managers, current/potential customers, suppliers, and company leadership\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Advanced degree in Engineering\n * Extensive experience with analysis of solid propellant and/or liquid-fueled air-breathing propulsion systems\n * Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance\n * Experience in capturing new business through cross-functional collaboration\n * Demonstrated effectiveness in managing internal customer relationships, prioritization, and delegation\n * Ability to balance people management, technical/process management, and strategic/new business aspects of this position\n\n\n\nThis position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $184,300.00 - $276,500.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.\n\nThe application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
