Job Description - Manager, Factory Development Engineering

Hadrian – Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies make rockets, jets, and satellites 10x faster and 2x cheaper. Our CEO, Chris Power, discusses the importance of what we're building in this video.

We are a lean but mighty team (and growing!) people that are passionate about building critical infrastructure to support the nation and the advancement of humanity.

We've raised >$200m to achieve this vision, with multiple rounds from Lux Capital, A16Z, Founders Fund, Construct Capital, Caffeinated Capital and more.

We use AI and Robotics to automate and scale factories that are globally cost competitive and future-proof from the dramatic skilled labor shortage that is facing the Advanced Industrial Base.

Hadrian works with startups, Primes and Tier 1/2s in all markets to cost-down, scale or otherwise enable them to hit production rates on critical programs in Rocketry, Satellites, Shipbuilding, Commercial and Military aircraft and other core, mission critical industries.

The Role:

Hadrian is building the most advanced aerospace manufacturing system on the planet — and we’re looking for a Factory Development Engineering Manager to lead the team that builds it.

We’re looking for a strong technical leader who thrives on coaching engineers, driving pragmatic execution, and translating complex factory needs into fast, scalable solutions. You’ll balance speed and rigor, and you’ll build the structure and clarity the team needs to operate independently — while still diving into the weeds when needed.

You’ll manage and coach a growing team of engineers who are responsible for designing and deploying new manufacturing processes, factory layouts, and automation-enabling systems across our factories. From optimizing and prototyping in F2 to greenfield process deployment in F3, you’ll steer high-impact projects that shape the future of how aerospace parts are made.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage, coach, and grow a team of Factory Development Engineers

  • Build and own the roadmap for factory development initiatives across F2, F3, and future

    sites

  • Guide project scoping, prioritization, and execution — from idea to implementation

  • Design and improve internal processes for project intake, progress tracking, and technical

    review

  • Ensure root cause rigor and process stability before scaling solutions

  • Partner closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Software, and GTM to scope and

roll out new capabilities- Identify and close team gaps through hiring, coaching, and org design

  • Communicate clearly across audiences — from technician to exec — to align direction and

drive change

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years in manufacturing or industrial engineering roles

  • 2+ years of technical team management or formal engineering mentorship

  • Experience delivering factory or process development projects end-to-end

  • Strong problem-solving and system design instincts rooted in real-world constraints

  • Ability to coach engineers through ambiguity without taking over execution

  • Track record of cross-functional collaboration with production, quality, and technical

    teams

What will set you apart:

  • Background in factory layout, equipment installation, or greenfield process deployment

  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma, structured problem solving, or DMAIC

  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or lightweight automation tools is a plus

  • Exposure to fast-paced, high-bar technical cultures (e.g., SpaceX, Tesla, startup ops)

Benefits:

  • 100% coverage of platinum medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees

  • 401k

  • Relocation stipend if you’re moving from outside of LA

  • Flexible vacation policy
