Description

The U.S. Insurance Finance team is the primary finance partner to American Express' U.S. Insurance business, supporting a growing portfolio of protection products across Card and Travel customer segments. The team provides financial leadership across all aspects of business performance, including forecasting, long-range planning, investment evaluation, and strategic decision support.

Working closely with partners across Product, Marketing, and the broader Finance organization, the team helps drive profitable growth, evaluate new business opportunities, and shape the future direction of the Insurance business. This role offers meaningful exposure to senior leadership, end-to-end visibility into the Insurance P&L, and the opportunity to influence strategic initiatives within one of the company's growing membership services businesses.



Responsibilities
  • Partner with leaders across the Blue Box to evaluate U.S. Insurance performance, assess growth opportunities, and influence investment decisions. 
  • Analyze key insurance drivers—including premiums, claims, reserves, customer penetration, and product profitability—to identify risks and opportunities. 
  • Leverage SQL, AI, and Excel to analyze large datasets, develop business cases, and support strategic planning. 
  • Translate complex financial and insurance analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership. 
  • Serve as a trusted finance partner to Insurance leadership, building strong cross-functional relationships across the enterprise.


Qualifications
  • 4 years of relevant finance experience.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and build sophisticated financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical rigor by challenging assumptions, validating results, and identifying insights and inconsistencies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial information into concise, executive-ready narratives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with business partners and stakeholders across a matrixed organization.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Demonstrated strategic thought leadership and judgment, with the ability to develop creative, data-driven solutions to complex business problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint; SQL experience preferred.
