What We Are Looking For: 

Fresche Solutions is seeking an experienced IBM i application development consultant to provide expert consulting services for clients seeking to maintain or extend their IBM i (AS/400) environments. The ideal candidate will have a combination of deep IBM i technical expertise, business acumen, and strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong client relationships.

This role involves leading a team working on short- and long-term projects while developing new business opportunities at existing client organizations.

What You Will Do:

• Analyze clients' existing IBMi environments and provide strategic recommendations for enhancement, optimization, and/or modernization.


• Create and present executive-level proposals to clients.


• Lead and balance workloads of a team of IBMi developers working on client assignments.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation.


• Provide technical leadership in RPG, CL, SQL, and other IBMi-related technologies.

What You Bring:

• 10+ years in IBMi (AS/400) software development.


•  5+ years of management experience – bonus if the experience was in consulting.


• Command of RPG (including free-format RPG), DB2, SQL, RDi, and VS Code.


• Experience with ILE concepts and modular programming.


• Knowledge of web services, APIs, and other integration technologies.


• Understanding of modern development methodologies (Agile, DevOps).


• Experience with IBMi SDLC tools (Aldon, Turnover, Robot, etc.).


• Excellent documentation, communication, and presentation skills.

What Will Set You Apart:

• Bachelor’s degree and MBA in business, computer science, or related field.


• Previous consulting or client-facing experience.


• Background in a variety of industry applications such as Infor, JDEdwards, and similar.


• Knowledge of Java, .NET, Python, Node.js, or other modern programming languages.


• Experience using AI to accelerate code generation to speed application development.


• Experience with application modernization projects.


• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements.


• ITIL or PMP certification.
