Job Description - Manager, Labor Buyer

Job Summary:


The Manager, Labor Sourcing position leads the team that is responsible for forecasting and procuring third party labor installers. The goal of this role is to provide strategic management to the buyers as well as assisting with providing internal and external customers the best quality pricing and timely installation of projects while minimizing EMC costs. The Manager, Labor Sourcing will also be the main liaison to cross functional project teams for strategic account planning and strategic pricing decisions.



Essential Job Functions:



  • Develop and execute a labor sourcing strategy aligned with business growth projections.

  • In partnership with LPDT and operations, forecast labor demand and capacity needs.

  • Lead documentation of process flows and standard operating procedures for the Labor Buyers.

  • Manage Labor Buyers’ daily workload to ensure efficient and balanced operations.

  • Coach, train, and develop Labor Buyers to improve sourcing effectiveness and negotiation skills.

  • Manage and maintain labor partner relationships to optimize pricing, quality, and service delivery.

  • Assess labor partner performance and report findings to the LPTD and Procurement head as required.

  • Resolve discrepancies and operational issues with labor partners promptly.

  • Analyze and direct costs and expenditures for the buying team.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and promote best practices to drive efficiency and consistency across the buying team.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leadership—including sales, finance, project management, service, and solutions—to ensure effective labor sourcing communication and alignment.

  • Drive sourcing strategies that keep projects on schedule and proactively communicate constraints to leadership.

  • Develop and maintain performance metrics to ensure accountability and drive continuous improvement within the department.

  • Performs other duties as



Skills and Abilities:



  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication

  • Expertise in presenting and communicating

  • Strong problem-solving, financial management and analytical

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel used for tracking and

  • Ability to take direction from multiple people, prioritize work and meet deadlines with limited supervision.

  • Able to work well in a team environment as well as

  • Detail-orientated, high degree of accuracy and ability to multi-


 


Education:



  • Four-year degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Operations Management or related degree.


 


Experience Required:



  • Project management for high volume and multi-unit project

  • Sourcing and/or procurement leadership

  • Customer service background with demonstrated ability to solve problems in a timely

  • Labor partner (lighting installs, industrial, commercial, retail, others) management, sourcing, negotiating.



Experience Preferred/Other Qualifications:



  • Lighting industry

  • 3+ years of team management


 


Physical Job Requirements and Working Conditions (include if applicable):



  • The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20

  • 25% travel, with some overnights and weekends
