Outstanding organizational and leadership skills are required to succeed in this role. \n\nThe Integration \u0026 Test (I\u0026T) Mechanical \u0026 Environmental Test Engineering Department (M\u0026ETE) is looking for a functional section manager who will also provide technical leadership to space programs and the engineering team.\n\nQualified candidate is expected to understand space hardware, testing methods, floor operations, and tools. Integration and Test Mechanical Engineers (ITME) plan and coordinate the operations required to build and test flight hardware at all levels - subassembly through complete systems. The work is primarily at Space Park but can include periodic travel depending on the specific program requirements. Daily tasks for test engineers include but are not limited to the following:\n\n * Design tests to verify system requirements\n\n * Develop detailed mechanical Integration and test procedures for technicians to execute\n\n * Provide technical oversight to floor operations\n\n * Document and remedy test anomalies and hardware non-conformances\n\n * Coordinate across many technical disciplines to define operations and accomplish work efficiently\n\n * Provide input into the design of flight hardware and custom support equipment\n\n * Estimate task durations and execute according to schedules\n\n * Successful candidates in this role will have strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.\n\n\n\n\nFUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:\n\n * Staffing support to space systems programs\n\n * Conducting quarterly performance evaluations and annual reviews\n\n * Providing technical leadership and guidance to the staff\n\n * Managing indirect, program direct, and capital needs\n\n * Professional development and mentoring of direct reports\n\n * Supporting Functional Homeroom initiatives and projects which include process improvement, Event Response Teams, Corrective and Preventive Action implementation, \u0026 Proposal efforts.\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAM/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:\n\n * Leadership and Management: \nLead and manage a team of ~20 test engineers supporting all phases of Space Vehicle (SV) I\u0026T. Partner closely with other functional managers and stakeholders to execute program objectives.\n\n * Test Campaign Execution Support: \nOversee all phases of mechanical integration and test for Bus and Payload systems.\n\n * Long-Term Planning:\n\n\n\n\nFocus on efficient resource allocation, staffing strategies, and readiness planning. Partner with program and technical leadership to resolve risks and ensure alignment to schedule milestones while maintaining a high standard of execution.\n\n * Team Development: \nProvide mentorship, coaching, and developmental opportunities for engineers to ensure their ongoing skill growth and technical depth. Focus on fostering expertise in complex test engineering disciplines relevant to IT\u0026L.\n\n * Product Readiness: \nDrive the team toward successful first-time execution of test procedures. Ensure product and test readiness to meet rigorous program standards and deliverables.\n\n * Collaboration and Communication: \nInterface with program leadership to communicate test progress, risks, and opportunities. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelors of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline plus 5 years of experience OR Masters of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus 2 years of experience\n\n * Proven leadership experience in multi-disciplinary teams, preferably within Integration, Test, and Launch (IT\u0026L) campaigns.\n\n * Strong capability in longer-term planning\u2014resource allocation, schedule execution, and workforce development.\n\n * Extensive technical experience with space vehicle mechanical systems, architecture, and testing procedures.\n\n * Excellent communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.\n\n * Must have active Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance (Required Day 1)\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Hands-on familiarity with all testing phases of P093 H Platform\n\n * Lead teams through highly demanding test environments.\n\n * Balance technical execution with a focus on skill development and team morale, especially in high-intensity work schedules or mission-critical program phases.\n\n * Drive alignment across various program functions to meet ambitious deadlines while prioritizing first-time quality and organizational sustainability.\n\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $146,600.00 - $219,800.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
