Job Description - Manager of Media Asset and Master Control Services
Broadcast Management Group (BMG) is a leading provider of broadcast managed services. This role will oversee BMG’s Media Asset Management (MAM) and Master Control division. It requires experience with all aspects of MAM and Master Control systems, including operations. This hands-on technical position will operate and maintain the MAM and Master Control systems hosted in the BMG Cloud Control Center. The MAM and Master Control manager will also conduct client demos and provide customer system support.
They will collaborate with key business stakeholders to develop the strategy and vision for Media Asset Management and Master Control, aligning with the company’s broader goals. This role collaborates with leaders in marketing, sales, executive management, communications, development, and client teams to design, implement, and continuously improve the Media Asset Management platform and the company's Master Control services. Developing effective client solutions depends on a combination of people, processes, and data to achieve business results.
This role will serve as the face of MAM, acting as a change agent and proponent for enterprise DAM capabilities and processes. The ideal future state is designed to support content development, curation, and publishing, as well as enhanced auditability, tracking, risk management, and improved efficiency and agility in business operations.
Key responsibilities
Partner with key business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to lead the development of the MAM and Master Control Services; vision, guiding principles, prioritized use cases/end-user experiences, high-level requirements, and roadmap
Define client project scopes and craft business requirements documentation with input from relevant stakeholders.
Craft a 1, 2, and 3-year roadmap for incremental process improvements and DAM strategic direction.
Assess project KPIs post-launch (qualitatively and quantitatively)
Facilitate strategic decisions and the creation of a tactical plan surrounding the development and implementation of target state processes and technology (including relevant business readiness and change management considerations, as well as integration with or migrationof content and existing/enhanced processes and tools)
Develop and maintain a protocol for client metadata entries. Work with various stakeholders across the enterprise to define metadata and taxonomy guidelines. Actively promote data consistency to support common standards and analytics
Establish periodic data verification review processes to ensure data accuracy and to support easy and consistent search and delivery of assets
Ensure best practices with network security
Provide client training, maintenance, and support
Monitor and operate all broadcast signals, including live feeds, satellite downlinks, recorded programming, and playback automation systems.
Monitor real-time video, audio, and data signals to ensure optimal quality and reliability.
Control and switch live events, sports, news, and remote contributions as scheduled.
Manage ingest, quality control (QC), and playout of programming and commercials according to daily logs.
Streaming Live broadcast
Coordinate with engineering, production, and IT teams to troubleshoot transmission issues.
Maintain accurate shift logs, discrepancy reports, and incident documentation.
Ensure scheduled content is played out as expected, adjusting logs in real-time when necessary.
Operate signal routing equipment, waveform monitors, vector scopes, and other broadcast QC tools.
Respond to automation and playout system alerts, escalating as needed.
Conduct routine checks of transmission paths, including satellite, fiber, IP, and microwave links.
Responsible for growing the business unit, working with sales and marketing to promote BMG’s offering
Provide client presentations
Maintain a high level of market awareness of competitors' strengths and weaknesses and continuously work to create the BMG advantage for its clients.
Qualifications & experience
10+ years of experience managing enterprise content management or digital asset management and master control system for a large client or company
10+ years in project management, technology-related implementations, and/or strategic planning roles
Desirable: A Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree
