Manager of Organ Services

 The Manager of Organ Services supports the mission, goals and strategic plan of Nevada Donor Network, Inc. (NDN) by providing leadership and donor clinical management for all aspects of organ recovery from initial referral through procurement with the expectation of increasing organ and tissue yield. They are responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a positive culture aligning with NDN’s core values.

• Manage and provide guidance to the Referral Responders, Triage Coordinators, Procurement Transplant Coordinators, and Surgical Services Coordinators.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, encouraging open communication, professional development, and teamwork.
• Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Coordinate staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for 24/7 operations.
• Conducts on-site visits of trained staff and assesses their mastery of critical job skills/core competencies; identifies opportunities for remedial training and/or continuous education.
• Ensures staff competency in all areas of organ recovery including, referral intake, referral management, donor identification, , donor management, organ allocation, organ surgical recovery, and organ preservation. 
• Participates in the development and achievement of individual scorecards to reflect individual, departmental, and company goals. 
• Oversee the referral response and triage process, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to potential organ donors, evaluating medical suitability and determining the viability of potential organ donations.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and external organizations to educate on the referral and evaluation process.
• Ensures that donated organs are allocated in an efficient, equitable, and timely manner in accordance with NDN and OPTN/UNOS policies.
• Collaborate with transplant centers and researchers and maintain strong relationships to facilitate efficient organ placement.
• Coordinate transportation logistics and necessary documentation for organ recovery and transplantation.
• Assists in the development and evaluation of new technology to advance the science of organ recovery and transplantation.
• Ensures the maintenance of the NDN perfusion laboratory meets or exceeds Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards and Regulations.
• Collaborate to develop, deploy, and manage quality initiatives, including real-time chart audits, post-case reviews, internal and regulatory audits, and compliance data reports.
• Establishes and maintains process improvement and data development projects, including case reviews and research opportunities.
• Develops, revises, and communicates standards, policies, and procedures related to organ donation. Assures all procedures are in compliance with the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network/United Network for Organ Sharing (OPTN/UNOS) and Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) policies and standards.
• Ensures Nevada Donor Network’s (NDN) compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including but not limited to clinical regulations promulgated by CMS, OPTN/ UNOS and AOPO.
• Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with all internal clients, including: department directors and staff in other departments; hospital staff at all local hospitals; key physicians and surgeons in the NDN Donation Service Area (DSA); transplant centers and laboratory personnel; other key personnel throughout the community.
• Works collaboratively with the Quality Services Department to collect and analyze data necessary to monitor and improve NDN systems and processes and reports findings back to the Director of Organ Recovery Services and the Quality Assurance Process Improvement (QAPI) committee.
• Works with all department directors to ensure consistency in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Ensures that all reports and records are accurate and completed/submitted within a reasonable time frame.
• Works collaboratively with Hospital Services staff to ensure development and implementation of a comprehensive educational process for the NDN DSA. 
• Assists with dissemination of best practices throughout the NDN DSA.
• Works collaboratively with Tissue & Ocular Services Departments to maximize tissue and eye donation and service to the community. 
• Works with Family Services to ensure the best possible collaboration and approach with all potential donors. 
• Attends and actively participates in all relevant NDN meetings and assists with the accomplishment of NDN’s primary mission. 
• Collaborates with management and executive staff to develop and operationalize best practices, staff satisfaction and retention, organizational policies and procedures, and the overall culture and philosophy of NDN. Serves as a member of the management team; attends regular management meetings.

  Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in healthcare field; years of experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Experience: Three to seven years healthcare related experience; a minimum of three years’ experience in organ procurement is preferred. Management skills and related experience preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficiency of MS office programs; electronic medical records
Certificates & Licenses: Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) preferred.
Other Requirements: A minimum of three years’ experience in organ procurement preferred. 

TRAVEL TO LAS VEGAS FOR 16 - 26 WEEKS OF TRAINING IS REQUIRED
