Manager of Public Realm Projects

Position Summary:

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) is seeking a Manager of Public Realm Projects to lead the implementation of highly visible projects in Downtown Pittsburgh, including public art, storefront activations, streetscape amenities, right-of-way repairs, and much more.  This role combines placemaking, urban development, and project delivery strategy into one dynamic position. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team and play a key role in repositioning Downtown Pittsburgh, enhancing the environment and experience for visitors, daytime employees, and a growing population of residents.

The ideal candidate is passionate about urban design, infrastructure conditions, and the social impact of vibrant and active public spaces, while being an experienced problem-solver, effective at breaking impasses to bring projects to life. Key functions include managing project budgets, timelines, and contractors, communicating across the Team and closely coordinating with affected stakeholders (such as property owners and businesses). 

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work closely with project partners including planners, designers, engineers, local government staff, contractors and property owners.


• Collaborate with Team to develop and implement project schedules and benchmarks


• Lead project scoping and contractor selection process


• Work with and report to the VP of District Development to ensure project timelines and budgets are established and met by:
  
  
  
  1. Creating project tracking methods for projects;
  
  
  2. Ensuring all project documentation is filed and organized;
  
  
  3. Coordinating project meetings including creating agendas and directing next steps;
  
  
  
  


• Support the grant and funding administration for projects, as needed


• Support data, research, and analysis, as needed


• Coordinate with Team to ensure funding compliance and risk management


• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, events, and on-street services departments.

• Highly effective and responsive communicator with clear verbal and written communication, and presentation skills


• Highly organized and motivated to meet deadlines


• Ability to effectively manage changes and challenges


• Bachelor’s degree in a related field


• At least 2 years of relevant work experience


• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)


• Proficiency with GIS, mapping tools, and/or design or data software is a plus


• Passion for Downtown Pittsburgh

Compensation

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 commensurate with experience.

Benefits: Health insurance (95%), Flexible Spending Accounts, 401k, life insurance, short and long-term disability. Starting at 16 PTO/Vacation days and 13 paid holidays per year.
