Hixson is seeking a licensed Civil/Structural Engineer to join our leadership team as Manager of Structural Engineering. This is an opportunity to lead an established group of talented engineers while shaping complex facility projects for some of North America's most recognized brands. As a key member of our management team, you will oversee the Structural Engineering department, serve as the Structural Engineer of Record on major projects, drive technical excellence, mentor future leaders, and help guide the strategic direction of the department. In addition to management duties, participate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, high-quality design solutions. Our integrated teams of architects, engineers, and project managers deliver innovative projects ranging from new facilities and expansions to highly technical manufacturing, workplace, and science & technology environments, with project values up to $500 million.

 

What You'll Do


  • Lead and develop the Structural Engineering team through coaching, mentoring, and strategic staffing

  • Serve as Structural Engineer of Record (SEOR) on projects throughout the United States and Canada

  • Participate in the company proposal process by reviewing scope and developing structural design fee estimates to generate comprehensive and competitive proposals

  • Oversee project execution, resource planning, quality control, and department performance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and engineering standards

  • Contribute to business growth, client relationships, and the long-term success of the firm


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering (Structures emphasis preferred)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required

  • Ability to obtain licensure throughout the United States and Canada

  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience, including project leadership responsibilities

  • Demonstrated success in leading, managing, mentoring, and building engineering teams


Technical Expertise

Experience designing and analyzing:


  • Structural steel

  • Reinforced concrete

  • Masonry systems

  • Cold-formed metal framing

  • Deep foundations

  • Precast concrete systems


Experience with structural analysis and design tools such as:


  • RAM Structural System

  • TEDDS

  • Hilti PROFIS Engineering

  • L-Pile
