The Manager on Duty (MOD) plays a vital role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences and maintaining operational excellence within the resort's guest services department. This position requires a strong background in hospitality, leadership skills, and a commitment to upholding the resort's standards of service excellence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of all Guest Services responsibilities.
  2. Assists Guest Services Manager with maintaining a competent and motivated team, creating a learning environment which maximizes productivity, skill development and Guest Services team retention.
  3. Maintains a calm and positive demeanor when confronted with difficult situations, to set a positive example for team members. 
  4. Assists with scheduling onboarding and training of Guest Service Agents.
  5. Follows operational policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols, to ensure a safe environment for team members and guests.
  6. Follows and enforces proper cash handling procedures and accurately completes cash drawer, accounting, cash-out, and close-of-shift procedures.
  7. Assists in overseeing the activities of all shift team members. This involves evaluating individual performance as well as fostering overall group cooperation. 
  8. Supports team members by positively reinforcing successful performance and providing respectful and encouraging coaching, as needed. 
  9. Performs routine walkabout, monitors activity, looks for, addresses safety/security/guest issues, etc.
  10. Assists with check-in and check-out of guests in a confident, professional, and friendly manner. 
  11. Maintains complete knowledge of all resort features/services, room rates and the daily house count.
  12. Maintains awareness of any special groups or activities on the property.
  13. Maintains a consistent presence at the front office. 
  14. Projects an approachable and professional image in personal appearance, hygiene, and demeanor.
  15. Responds to inquiries regarding services and room issues; resolves guest service issues and/or elevate to the Guest Services Manager when matters are outside scope or ability.
  16. Serves as informational liaison to other departments by providing updated guest arrivals, departures, and evolving needs.
  17. Understands first aid/emergency procedures and be able to direct guests accordingly.
  18. Incorporate the resort’s culture of service excellence, mission, and core values into all aspects of job performance.
  19. Performs the duties of Concierge, as needed to enhance guest experiences.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A minimum of 1 year of hospitality experience in a hotel or resort setting.
  2. Highschool diploma or equivalent experience required.
  3. Computer skills, experience, and aptitude to include MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
  4. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  5. Excellent interpersonal, management, and training skills.
  6. Ability to work under pressure and utilize critical thinking to recognize problems and identify empowered solutions.
  7. Ability to drive a golf cart, after training.
  8. CPR and first aid certifications are a plus, or must be willing to be trained in same.
  9. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  10. Ability to walk or stand and move about the resort (both indoors and outdoors) for eight or more hours per day, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push and pull items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  11. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures; and the ability to speak and communicate in a professional manner.
