Job Description - Manager, Operations

 


 

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.


We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Operations Manager.


General Description:


The Operations Manager reports to the Director, Operations, and will support the daily O&M activities involving the safe and effective operation of the Venture Global Plaquemines production units. The Operations Manager is a pivotal leadership role within our organization, supporting the Director, Operations in executing strategic objectives and management of Operations programs and initiatives to meet the organization’s goals. He / She further supports the Day and Shift Superintendents in tactical activities, including execution of operational and people management tasks and other functions as directed for successful operations. This position requires a self-motivated, dynamic and results-driven individual who can collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including staff, community partners, and funding agencies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and implementing processes and structures in line with an emerging Operations framework, demonstrate maturity in personnel management, and financial oversight. He / She must be a Safety leader, able to demonstrate and drive a strong safety culture within the wider team, as well as operational ownership, accountability and discipline. Candidates must have exceptional communication and leadership skills, with an ability to navigate complex challenges while maintaining a positive and inclusive work environment. The Operations Manager will assist in formulating policies, setting departmental objectives, and evaluating program outcomes. Additionally, they will lead special projects, facilitate staff development, and represent the organization at community events and meetings. 


Responsibilities:



  • Operational Efficiency: Overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the LNG process, from natural gas intake to LNG loading and shipping.

  • Safety Management: Ensuring adherence to strict safety protocols and regulations, including process safety and emergency response procedures. Heavily involved in the management of programs including Car Seals, Bypasses and Management of Change. Provides leadership in Emergency situations as required.

  • Team Leadership: Managing and mentoring a team of process operators, technicians, and other personnel, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance.

  • Process Optimization: Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall plant performance. Ensures monthly and annual operating plans, as defined by Operational KPIs are achieved by the team.

  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards, maintaining accurate records, and preparing reports as required.

  • Budget Management: supporting the development of and managing the operational budget for the LNG plant, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.

  • Problem Solving: Quickly identifying and resolving operational issues, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including management, regulatory agencies, and customers. 

  • Maintenance interventions: Manage operational continuity and minimize downtime  during periods of planned and unplanned maintenance activities.


 


Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, or related field) or 5 plus years equivalent experience.

  • Experience: Extensive experience in LNG or other petrochemical operations, with a strong understanding of process control, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience in operations of CCGTs, preferably with GE 7EA and A200 STG configurations.  Additional CC configurations and Air-Cooled Condensers (ACCs) experience also a plus. Commissioning, startup and operations in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or Independent Power Producer (IPP) facility along with internal electrical distribution systems.

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.

  • Technical Skills: Strong technical skills in process control, instrumentation, and automation.

  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex situations.

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

  • Adaptability: Ability to competently act as Shift Supervisor and/or Superintendent with knowledge and skills to operate the board if deemed necessary.

  • High level of HSE knowledge

  • Ability to address personnel HR issues from a viewpoint of fairness and practicability

  • Demonstrated to be a participative leader that offers opinion and direction
