Full-Time (Exempt)

Hog Island Oyster Co. is looking for an enthusiastic MANAGER to join our team in Larkspur, located in the Marin Country Mart. Summary of Position: 

The Manager position at Hog Island Oyster Co. is responsible for the day to day onsite operations and execution of service on the floor. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for implementing the Company vision and directives of the Oyster Bar as communicated by the Company’s Oyster Bar Division General Manager. This position requires a satisfactory background check.

· Lead the Oyster Bar Team while conferring with and assisting the General Manager, DRO and Co Managers in the daily management of budgeting, controls, systems, and staffing, etc. 

· Encourage and embrace teamwork and collaboration both among Co-managers and Staff. 

· Make the team better through fostering authentic relationships and providing assistance in ongoing education and brainstorming.

  • Maintains calm/positive attitude when dealing with difficult situations, makes the best of challenging situations.

MANAGEMENT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide clear expectations and goals for all staff members. 
  • Work with management on setting ongoing growth goals for themselves and their teams. 
  • Assist in ensuring that all POS systems, budgets, financial reporting systems and P&L’s are kept up-to-date and accurate.
  • Familiar with all Cash and Credit Card control and reporting policies and ensure they are being followed by all staff members for both sales and incurred expenses. 
  • Oversee and ensure that staff timekeeping, reporting and payroll are accurate and completed in a timely fashion. Make certain that follow up communication is done with all relevant departments and staff members. 
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up to date personnel records for all staff members
  • Ensure that all food, beverage and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s serving standards. 
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of all company and department rules, policies and procedures including our shellfish, our history, practices and values and be able to provide oversight and training of these topics for department staff members. 
  • Feel comfortable stepping into any role at any time in order to ensure guest service standards as well as streamline and improve the efficiency of the restaurant’s operation. 
  • Maintain up to date and accurate logs for operations. 
  • Ensure that all paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules are prepared in an organized and timely manner for the assigned departments. Communicate to all appropriate staff and departments and submit to GM for final review. 
  • Communicate issues with all equipment and assist in keeping clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant’s preventative maintenance programs. 
  • Ensure that all deliveries are performed in accordance with the restaurant’s receiving policies and procedures. 
  • Be knowledgeable of restaurant policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures. 
  • Oversee the training of assigned department staff in safe operation of all equipment and utensils. 
  • Responsible for all personnel being trained in cleanliness and sanitation practices. 
  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service or facilities for staff and guests.
  • Responsible for assisting in maintaining appropriate cleaning schedules for all restaurant areas. 
  • Ensure that employees understand all communicated information. Constantly strive to provide clear communication. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Previous restaurant management experience preferred 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all staff and management members. 
  • Experience with a variety of software programs and online tools is preferred including: Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel; Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Sheets; Adobe CS, specifically inDesign or another similar desktop publishing software application; Ctuit or other similar Restaurant management software; Toast POS or other FOH POS software system.
