Job Description

The purpose of this job is to manage procurement of utilities and support the broader team in reducing consumption, cost, and environmental impact.  

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, environmental science, engineering or related field, and 5+ years of relevant experience

Specialized Knowledge

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience working in unregulated energy efficiency
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Business Energy Professional (BEP) certification preferred

Additional Information

Essential Functions

  1. Manage sourcing of deregulated electricity and natural gas contracts for energy supply to ensure cost effectiveness and risk tolerance.  Monitor energy market data and develop procurement strategies to optimize costs.
  2. Assist with overall energy and utilities efforts to optimize energy use, manage costs, improve efficiency, and create value across all company owned facilities.
  3. Support development of annual utilities budget, track expenses, create forecasts, explain variances, investigate anomalies, and prepare reports for leadership.
  4. Manage propane pricing program for national account providers and serve as liaison between operations, facilities maintenance, and key vendors on pricing and delivery issues.
  5. Support alternative fuels and sustainability teams through reporting, contract management, data quality review, utility partnerships, and new project developement.
  6. Support utility outreach program, attend and participate in energy industry conferences, and seek new business development opportunities. Coordinate and support regulatory presence on key utility rate cases with other national account customers.
  7. Participate in customer advisory boards for energy trade association and strategic company vendors. Influence stakeholders on best strategies to manage energy costs and develop new programs that benefit company.
  8. Support utilities KPI strategy and execution. Create and deliver utilities KPI updates to align with company strategic goals.
  9. Support operations during emergency response events by acting as utility liaison to communicate to leadership key information on restoration timelines. Assist with investigation and resolution of stores with frequent power outages.
  10. Assist with development and execution of continuous improvement projects to improve processes, optimize efficiency, and reduce costs.
  11. Track utility cost increases, data anomalies, investigate and resolve discrepancies. Ensure data quality for environmental sustainability reporting team.
  12. Support team on creating and implementing utility projects that optimize energy consumption, improve processes, and manage costs.
  13. Collaborate with team in effort to improve utility analysis programs through advanced tools to resolve cost and usage anomalies.
  14. Manage 3rd party vendor relationships holding them accountable to service level agreements, optimizing savings opportunities.
