Job Description - Manager Store Operations and Process Improvement - Start Immediately

Purpose:

As a store operations team member, our goal is to simplify the routines for our associates by improving store processes and enabling technology to create a seamless experience.  A benefit of simplifying store processes are improvements to the overall customer experience along their project journey at Floor and Decor.

The Operational Business Process Manager position will manage and monitor store operations processes for specific area(s) of responsibility and manage projects focusing on process improvements that support the needs of the stores, market area, region, or division.  This position provides input and support by partnering with cross functional departments and others to drive efficiencies, productivity, and process improvements in our stores.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 to 5 years of retail experience or process management in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company.  Additional relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education.
  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills along with strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong operations, retail and/or field knowledge.
  • Proficiency with software including MS Project, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification preferred.
  • General understanding of the Agile approach for technology development and project management.
  • Experience creating computer-based training materials for retail and contact center organizations.
  • Strong business, functional and/or store knowledge for their area of responsibility.
  • Ability to partner/communicate well with the field/stores
  • High sense of urgency in responding to field needs
  • Strong big picture; strategic thinking skills
  • Strong quantitative skills such as statistics and data analysis.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Use strategic thinking to see the big picture, determine root causes to problems and understand fundamental parts of the problem
  • Leverages quantitative analysis and data insights to arrive at desirable outcomes.
  • Prepare and deliver insights and recommendations based on analyses and voice of the customer.
  • Recommend processes to continually improve performance, associate productivity, and expense controls.
  • Cross functionally supports the new store development team all pre-opening planning and scheduling
  • Initiate and cultivate external vendor relationships in support of our strategic objectives related to innovation, program support and technology.
  • Manage issues and roadblocks that arise related to their area of responsibility.
  • Respond proactively to unanticipated store needs arising out of a variety of inputs.
  • Manage action steps necessary for successful execution of both strategic projects/initiatives and process improvement.
  • Respond to field requests for support with 24 hrs.
  • Draws on industry research for training best practices, develops and maintain store policy tools and processes.
  • Create and assist in the development of new technology and features, work plans, policies and procedures, and deployment plans in support of store operations.

 Working Conditions (travel & environment)

  • Travel may be required including air and car travel
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY    REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
