JOB TITLE:    Manager, Transportation

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Wineshipping is a tech-enabled third-party logistics (3PL) provider for alcoholic beverage companies, managing the fastest, most accurate, and most cost-efficient delivery network in the US for wine, beer, spirits, and more. We have been awarded North Bay Business Journal’s Supplier of the Year (Wine Beer & Spirits Awards) and most recently we were voted “Best Place to Work” two years in a row by Best of Napa County magazine. 

The Manager, Transportation is ultimately responsible for inbound, outbound, and intermodal transportation including yard management, cost control, carrier selection (including contracts and negotiation), and improvement projects, and is the authority on developing and watching Key Performance Indicators for the operating region. This role is critical to the coordination and oversight of transportation functions for Wineshipping. Key success indicators for the Transportation team will be operating efficiencies, margin excellence and improved operating costs. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee, monitor, and track timetables and costs of all transportation modes employed by Wineshipping.
  • Drive adoption of data/process standard, facilitate the sharing of best practices to improve transportation operations.
  • Develop and report on transportation KPIs for the Oregon/Washington region.
  • Support decisions related to transportation operations, so they align with company-wide strategic initiatives. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the region’s critical carriers and service providers, building good relationships to enhance service levels, optimize rebate programs, and control costs. 
  • Recruit, hire, and manage performance for drivers and transportation planners.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals, recommending budget changes as needed.
  • Develop and implement a process to evaluate service providers, based on key performance indicators for      Wineshipping.
  • Oversee the resolution of quality issues and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies tailored to specific client campaigns.
  • Lead the planning and forecasting team to ensure capacity aligns with demand.
  • Manage local fleet.
  • Any other responsibilities that management deems essential and other duties as assigned, we like to keep      it interesting!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

  • 5+ years Transportation Management experience, including the management of others on a dedicated team.  
  • Practical working knowledge and experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS). 
  • A background or heavy experience with transportation brokerage is helpful. 
  • Experience using dashboards, measurements and key performance indicators (KPIs) is essential. Expertise in building dashboards is helpful. 
  • Solid strategic planning, organizational and management skills with the ability to multi-task and      assimilate information quickly.
  • A personable, approachable, and hands-on leadership style is required. A culture of affinity, ownership      and execution is key to success with Wineshipping. 
  • As a leader at Wineshipping, you will develop others. You should      know something about doing that as well as enjoy doing it. 
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret business and      technical documents.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in business-related computer software in a Windows environment (i.e.,      Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Strong proficiency in analytics, and if you have used Databricks before, you’ll be right at home in our data-driven environment. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Prolonged periods of standing/walking/sitting 

· Occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 50lbs.? 

· Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity 

· Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl. 

· Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts  

· Occasional loud noise  

· Occasional varying environmental temperature changes

Base pay + incentive plan
