Description

Position Title: Manager/Director of Survey Services

Location: Houston, TX

Position Description

The Manager/Director of Survey Services will lead the survey team in providing accurate and timely survey data for a variety of different types of surveying projects. This role involves overseeing survey operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with engineering teams to support project requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and manage a team of surveyors and technicians.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide mentorship and guidance.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee survey operations for energy projects, including oil and gas, wind, solar, and other renewable energy developments.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of survey data through meticulous oversight and quality control processes.
  • Utilize advanced survey equipment and software to conduct and process surveys.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliverables.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on survey-related matters.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, including cost estimates and timelines.
  • Ensure all survey activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Implement and enforce company policies and procedures related to survey operations.
  • Manage survey equipment and resources, ensuring they are maintained and utilized effectively.
  • Oversee the procurement of new equipment and technologies to improve survey efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop and manage the survey services budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding survey services.
  • Address client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure repeat business and client satisfaction.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) license required.
  • Manager shall have a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in surveying, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Director shall have a minimum of 15+ years of experience in surveying, with at least 7+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Extensive knowledge of survey principles, methods, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in survey software and technology, such as AutoCAD, GPS, and GIS.
  • Experience in the energy sector, particularly with oil and gas, renewable energy projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Prior acceptable industry qualification and experience or currently enrolled in a degree program related to surveying, civil engineering, geomatics, or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, related field or prior acceptable industry qualification and experience.

Work Environment/Physical Demands 

  • Primarily office-based with frequent travel to project sites.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Physically able to operate an automobile, have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel as required for site visits.
