Job Description - Managing Director, IT Solution Architecture - Global Services
### Role Summary\n\nThe Managing Director, IT Solution Architecture \u2014 Global Services leads the technology strategy, architecture, and delivery partnership for Applied Materials\u2019 global service organization. This role owns the end\u2011to\u2011end IT solution landscape supporting a large installed base and 10,000+ field engineers, enabling scalable, reliable, and intelligent service operations.\n\nThis leader will manage a team of IT solution architects and play a critical role in shaping and executing the migration from a customized SAP CRM and homegrown FSM solutions to SAP S/4HANA\u2013based service capabilities, while introducing AI\u2011driven innovations that improve service efficiency, uptime, and customer outcomes.\n\n## Key Responsibilities\n\n### Service Technology Strategy \u0026 Architecture\n\n * Define and own the target\u2011state architecture and multi\u2011year roadmap for global service and field operations.\n * Modernize fragmented FSM and service solutions into a scalable, standardized SAP S/4HANA service architecture.\n * Establish architectural standards for service processes, integrations, data, mobility, security, and resilience.\n\n\n\n### SAP Service Transformation Leadership\n\n * Provide architecture leadership for the SAP S/4HANA service transformation, including transition from customized SAP CRM and legacy FSM tools.\n * Design integrated service processes spanning installed base, work orders, contracts, warranties, entitlements, parts, billing, and finance.\n * Partner with SAP program leadership to ensure service requirements are built into the core S/4 journey\u2014not treated as extensions.\n\n\n\n### Field Service Management (FSM)\n\n * Lead FSM capabilities including dispatching and scheduling, technician mobility, guided workflows, parts and logistics integration, and service execution at customer sites.\n * Ensure solutions support global scale, regional variability, and high\u2011availability field operations.\n\n\n\n### AI\u2011Enabled Service Innovation\n\n * Drive practical AI use cases across service operations, such as technician assist, predictive maintenance, scheduling and parts optimization, and case triage.\n * Ensure AI solutions are secure, governed, and embedded into daily workflows with measurable business impact.\n\n\n\n### Business Partnership \u0026 Delivery\n\n * Act as a senior technology partner to Service Operations, Service Product Management, and Finance.\n * Translate business priorities into clear solution options, roadmaps, and delivery plans.\n * Oversee delivery governance to ensure quality, adoption, and performance outcomes.\n\n\n\n### Team Leadership\n\n * Build, lead, and develop a high\u2011performing team of solution architects aligned to service domains.\n * Establish consistent architecture practices, reusable patterns, and strong collaboration across IT and the business.\n\n\n\n## Qualifications\n\nRequired\n\n * 12+ years of enterprise IT experience with significant leadership in field service and service operations systems.\n * Strong experience with SAP service solutions (SAP CRM service and/or S/4HANA Service) and large ERP transformations.\n * Deep understanding of FSM processes and technician\u2011centric solutions.\n * Proven ability to lead global, cross\u2011functional technology initiatives.\n\n\n * Experience with FSM platforms such as SAP FSM, ServiceMax, Salesforce Field Service, IFS, or similar.\n * Experience applying AI/ML or GenAI to service operations.\n * Background in industrial, manufacturing, or semiconductor equipment environments.\n\n\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n10 - 15 Years\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\n10-Day 8-Hr (United States of America)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nYes, 25% of the Time\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nYes\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nNone\n\nU.S. Salary Range:\n\n$224,000.00 - $308,000.00\n\nThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
