About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Director for Special Gifts to secure current-use and capital commitments of up to $250,000 from a diverse constituency in support of institutional priorities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a select portfolio of prospective donors, demonstrating successful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors. This role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, at least six years of experience in a complex college or university development operation, and a deep understanding of the philanthropic process. The candidate should have a proven track record of soliciting and closing four, five, and six-figure gifts, as well as the ability to work with and command the respect of senior officers, Trustees, and other high-level donors and volunteers.Key responsibilities include developing and implementing comprehensive strategies for donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, as well as partnering with division colleagues to devise effective communication and engagement strategies. The role also involves identifying and engaging prospective donors in special events and activities, supporting regional engagement events, and training and supporting volunteers in the solicitation process. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and have strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. The role requires approximately 30-40% travel and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
